Selling myself short?

I got the offer from EVS. The base is 70k with a plan of 100 at 1mm in rev. They sold one deal so far in direct sales. I would be a team and my comp would be directly proportional to what the team sells. The base leaves me upside down. The company has only done 3-5mm rev total after 12 years of employment. There is no equity, and the position is just a biz dev guy. They dont pay for moving at all. 

The positive is that I have the offer. I get to work in an awesome company where the heartbeat is of God. I get to live in CO, and Laura says that she would move out here in a year, so the kids would be here. The role is exactly me. God is in it. God has brought me to lots of folks, and there is much fruit.

But, I have no peace with the offer. I could not get to sleep last night, and I woke up early today. Laura said that I am selling myself short. I think that she is right.

LORD, I need wisdom. This sucks. Is God bringing me out here to show me my identity? Is this an exercise in that? I saw and have had a ton of stuff prophetically about Boulder. I dont know what to do. My anointing for healing is gone. I dont have the confidence to pray for people because I am not seeing the manifestation. I dont feel close to God, and I hardly feel His presence.

I am going to talk with Laura today, and I pray God that You will speak to me. I am going on a three day fast starting tonight.

The base that I had was 81,250. That number kept coming to mind. Now, I see that I need to take my position in the marketplace. This looks like:

1) Position – VP of Business Development

  Position Description:   

  • Establishes company business development objectives, develops strategic plans, and identifies company strengths and weaknesses in order to achieve business opportunities, growth, and financial profitability, in concert with other top management members.
  • Evaluates, plans, and develops organization policies and goals and growth and structural program objectives.
  • Analyzes and focuses on new markets, mergers, and acquisitions, identifying business opportunities, increasing share of market, and obtaining competitive position in industry.

          Prepares, analyzes, and monitors budget requests to identify areas in which reductions can be made,             and allocates operating budget. Reviews company and department activity and operating reports.

          Promotes organization in industry trade associations.

  • Coordinates activities of department among other departments, such as operating, manufacturing, engineering, planning, sales, maintenance, or research and development, to effect operational efficiency and economy and to ensure consistency in organization’s long-term planning.
  • Identify, qualify, develop and drive go-to-market partnerships with system integrators, CPA firms, industry solutions firms, etc. to achieve business development objectives.
  • Strategic planning: develop the goals and objectives for target partnerships consistent with corporate strategy, align sales, marketing and services activities against those goals
  • Program management: manage internal and external partner programs, coordinate internal resources and communication, and manage to cross-functional and inter-company program plans
  • Marketing: develop and execute partner marketing programs in the field, aligning partner activities with corporate strategy, and manage communication across the broad partnership community
  • Partner Enablement:  Work with our clients Partner Management Group to on-board partner.  This involves delivery of partner training, go-to-market planning and channel management.
  • Relationship management: develop and maintain strong working relationships at the executive level with key partners

2) Comp – if no equity:

         a. Base of 81,250

         b. Bonus on number of strategic deals made at $5k per deal. Plus bonus on brand penetration into                    front range. Target 1 per quarter of Mangan quality. Brand is subjective and at management                          discretion. Additional bonus available of $Xk if key marketing/brand/biz dev KPI’s are hit. 

         c. Commissions on revenue as a result of my relationships being struck. Overrides are for the life of                  the relationship, and I will serve to maintain the relationship.

         d. Revenue target of 1mm = 30k of commission or 3% of sales.

             Need to get commission on revenue exceeding 1mm with extreme accelerators above 1mm.

             Above 1mm = 7%

             Above 2mm = 12%

             Cumulative effect on my efforts. I get paid on life of relationship.
