Acts 9, part 3 :: Raising the Dead

In Joppa (“beautiful”), Tabitha (aka Dorcas “gazelle”) died. Peter raised her up.

v36 “This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did.”

This woman became sick and died as a result of demonic attack. She was doing good in the land, and the devil afflicted her. Peter picked up on this and brought her back to life. The devil will most certainly try to steal away the love that God pours out on his children. As in the case with Peter, it is the saints job to breathe life back into the dead. Take back what satan tries to steal.

We know that this was the devil’s work because Peter was able to bring her back. If it were God’s will for her to be dead, she would not have come back. Sometimes, a person dies before their numbered days are up. We have the authority and power to bring them back, when we line ourselves with God’s will. Her death was NOT God’s will. His will WAS for LIFE. Peter called forth life, and she came back.

Peter “knelt down and prayed”. That’s all it took – humility before God and request. Bless the Lord.

“Tabitha, arise.” Peter spoke life into the dead.

As believers, we must increase our awareness as to the works of the enemy and take back anything that he tries to rob us of. We have authority over his power (Luke 10:19). Faith will call life from death.

v42 …”and many believed on the Lord.”

The end result was that many came to Christ. God was glorified.
