A Hard Thing

2 Kings 13:20

Elisha’s bones raise the dead. Presence – not anything to do with Elisha. He was anointed.

1 Kings 2:10

You have asked a hard thing says Elijah. Elisha wanted a double portion of Elijah’s spirit. Many here want a double portion. God wants to give it.

Character stewards the anointing well. If you want the fire to fall, you must live a life of sacrifice cause fire falls on sacrifice. We will no longer see people just walk in power without like Elisha.

Look at just a few of his first events:

  1. 2 Kings 2:14. I would suggest that pride and anger were in action. “Where is the God of Elijah” feels more like a taunt than humility. But the anointing was there. Anointing does not mean that you are 100% in line with the LORD or dont need a few adjustments.
  2. 2 Kings 2:17. Elisha knows the truth, but he submits out of shame. This is an open door to fear of man.
  3. 2 Kings 2:24. Elisha curses the kids, and bears attack them, mauling several to death.

But, he was anointed. It was a hard thing to carry that kind of anointing.

God wants us to develop the character necessary to do amazing things. He does not want the weight of His blessings to crush us or take us out.

The glory is coming.

Glory story.

And, who will we point the glory to? Us or God?

Elisha in 2 Kings 5:8 displays a little more of what was going on. Namaan has leprosy. Elisha says let him come so that he knows there’s a prophet in Israel. Whoa!

When I look up guys like David, Samuel and others, I see that their posture is that there is a God in Israel. They all point to the LORD.

  1. 1 Kings 18:36-37 Elijah has the showdown on Mt. Carmel. His prayer says it all.
  2. 1 Sam 17:46. David and Goliath. David says…

There are more, but the point is that a wounded heart, sin and other junk in our lives opens the door to trouble, even if we are moving in the power of God.

We are in an Isaiah 60 season where it is time to arise and shine. Glory is coming.

Storm Dreams stories.

We must get our firewood. It is time to live a life of sacrifice to the LORD.

What does that look like?

For starters, it requires us to lay down our own agendas and do whatever He says when He says to do it.

There is a return to holiness. Consecrated lives are sacrifices that completely invite the fire to fall. Fasting lifestyles will be quite commonplace in the coming days.

Dealing with old wounds or hidden sin issues is also a requirement. We want to give the devil no place at all in us.

So, the question is, what areas in your life has Holy Spirit been highlighting to you?

What must you deal with in order for His fire to fall on you. What does sacrifice look like for you?

We will enter into the greater works that Jesus spoke about.

Submitting the LORD and letting Him take you on the journey can be a hard thing – a very hard thing. But, it’s not a hard thing for Him to heal, deliver and anoint you into greatness.

Ministry.
